The Gamm Studio
For the amateur actor, the working professional actor and everyone in between, The Gamm Studio provides an enjoyable and unique learning experience in a comfortable, nurturing environment. The Gamm Studio does not offer a "method" of theater training, rather the emphasis is on the individual student. All sessions run for 7 weeks and cost $230, with discounts for returning students. Pricing excludes special workshops.
FALL CLASSES
Scene Study with Fred Sullivan, Jr.
August 16 - October 4 Mondays 6:30-9:30pm
This is a class for actors intending to better their skills, push their own boundaries, break old habits and be engaged in some very demanding scene work. This class culminates in a showcase evening of your rehearsed work. Learn by doing. Rehearsal outside of class time is required. *Class size limited to 12 students. Explore the techniques and vocabulary essential to understanding the craft of creating a performance through basic improvisation, monologue work and scene study. This class is open to experienced hams, as well as raw beginners who are curious about theater and performance skills—or those who are simply interested in discussing acting through more informed eyes. Learn by doing. Rehearsal outside of class time is required. *Class size limited to 14 students. Comedy Scene Study with Fred Sullivan, Jr.October 11 - November 22
Open your box of funny. Learn strategies and techniques of acting in a comedic scene or play. This class is formatted for actors of varying levels of experience through partnered scene work. Exciting contemporary plays and scenes suited to individual student needs will be rehearsed focusing on the nuts and bolts of comedy from text-analysis to developing on your feet verbal and physical timing. This class culminates in a showcase evening of your rehearsed work. Learn by doing. Rehearsal outside of class time is required. *Class size limited to 14 students.
Intro to Improv with Casey Seymour-KimOctober 25 - December 6
Do you love watching Whose Line Is It Anyway? But the idea of improvisation scares you to death? Don't worry about being funny, brilliant, or even particularly engaging. This course focuses on learning the basics of successful improvisation, starting with a variety of improv exercises and including theater sports and games similar to those seen on TV. Explore the role improvisation plays in creating characters and scenes. This class is excellent training for actors who wish to explore their craft, or for those who simply wish to speak in public with confidence. *Ages 18+ only.
