Twisted Classics

Character Creation

Join Gamm Teaching artists in a whirlwind week of acting, creating characters, and performing, while emphasizing creativity, connection, collaboration, and, of course, fun! Work with your fellow actors to create a character, brought to life using your body and voice, complete with costume and stage make-up! Characters will then be incorporated into a one-of-a-kind play to be shared with friends and family.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPS

Shakespeare

This weeklong intensive will combine classical text with physical theatre exercises to bring Shakespeare’s words to life. Actors will learn an approach to verse technique with material from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo & Juliet, and As You Like It. By exploring physical theatre exercises and games as an ensemble, students will learn to infuse their work with confidence and celebrate their classmates’ performances. Young actors of all abilities and levels of experience are encouraged to join.

We’ll answer the age-old question: Can a bunch of middle-schoolers create and perform an original musical production in one week? Will it be the next Hamilton? Or maybe the next Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour? We’ll explore playwriting, comedy sketches, songwriting, and other areas of performance while clearing space on our mantle for a Tony.

Playwriting Week

The first week of GSI will focus on playwriting and creating work. We’ll write and workshop scenes and monologues and songs, devise and perform tiny plays, and host the first-ever GSI variety show. We’ll learn how to create opportunities for performing, even while you’re waiting for your big break.

Backstage Secrets Week

Shakespeare Scene Study Week

Dive into the language, craft, and magic of Shakespeare through theater games, acting exercises and rehearsals. This week-long program explores some of Shakespeare’s most beloved scenes and prepares actors for performance through script analysis and beat by beat scene breakdowns.
