About the Camp:
Gamm Summer Intensive (GSI) is a three week professional theatre training program for high schoolers and advanced middle school students focused on performance and Shakespeare. Culminating in two public performances, campers will rehearse and participate in performance, production and design of a fully staged abridged version of William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. Through rigorous daily rehearsals, master classes and workshops, campers will build an understanding of what it takes to put on a full scale production in a professional and collaborative environment.

Ambition, power and betrayal abound in William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. Concerned that Julius Caesar poses a threat to democracy, a group of revolutionaries take the violent decision to murder him. As the world spins out of control, chaos and superstition lead to civil war. With dramatic and comedic moments, famous dialogue, historic characters and exciting fights, GSI’s production is sure to be a hit!

Camp Hours: 9am to 3pm

Performances: Friday, July 17 at 2pm

About the Camp:

Gamm Summer Intensive Junior (GSI Jr.) is a two week theatre experience for middle school students interested in theatre. Campers will rehearse and perform an abridged version of William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, building literacy and comprehension skills while developing confidence and stage presence. Through daily rehearsals, master classes and an assortment of games and activities, campers will develop a theatrical toolbox they can easily bring with them on their next theatrical adventure or just in their daily life.

One of Shakespeare’s earliest plays and his most farcical comedies, The Comedy of Errors is full of mistaken identity, mischief and lighthearted humor. With an uplifting message about belonging, individuality and family, this play will delight audiences of any age.

Separated from their twins in a shipwreck, Antipholus and his servant Dromio of Syracuse travel the world in pursuit of their lost brothers only to find themselves taking their place when they arrive in Ephesus. A series of misadventures, slapstick comedy and chance happenings bring a grief-stricken family together again for a second chance at happily ever after.

GSI Jr. campers can register for a Bonus Week extending camp to Friday, July 24th. Campers attending the bonus week will participate in an extended rehearsal process alongside the GSI high school students and appear as ensemble members in GSI’s production of Julius Caesar with performances on Friday, July 24th at 7:00 PM and Saturday, July 25th at 2:00 PM.
